The big trip of the year saw 14 divers take the long trip up to the Orkneys stopping at two locations.
Six stopping at Russell's house and the eight at Overscapa cottage approximatly half a mile apart.
First dive on Sunday was to be in Kirkwell bay as the prevailing south winds prevented diving in Scapa bay, the HMS Endevour was the target with my buddys target being the resident lobster. Everyone had a good dive with the exception of my buddy who did manage to get his lobster but lost his wieght belt in return.
Back at Overscapa cottage the resident chiefs had been working hard and supplied us with a gourmet feast , altough the head chef seemed to have been on the piss all day and didn't have any room for food...
Bingham Sub Aqua Club – Trip Report
Pembrokeshire 13th – 18th August 2011
Accommodation – Upper Neeston Lodges
All but Stewart, Bob & Vicky met at St Brides on the Saturday at 14:30 or there about, weather was sunny and sea conditions good. Louise was dragooned into acting as trainee marshal and a shakedown 7 -10 metre dive was enjoyed by everyone with reasonable visibility. Dinner was in the local pub the Taberna Inn, decent food and lots of it at reasonable prices.
Sunday 14th following a breakfast cooked by Matt and lunchtime sandwiches courtesy of Jane’s team (James thinks tuna with mayonnaise is a liquid) saw the same group at Martins Haven, again sea conditions good but a sod to enter and exit at low tide, two...

A recent long weekend was spent on Lundy Island by some 12 divers and one non-diver. The trip over was an adventure in itself - following on from a SW gale the previous two days. So Obsession II was the only boat to sail in 4 days!!! Even the regular ferry from Ilfracombe was mainland bound, as was the paddle steamer SS Waverley. Only five helped to 'feed the fish' on the way over, but conditions were much calmer in the Eastern lee of the island, ready for the afternoon dive at Brazen Ward.
The first day over - then began the trek up to the top of the island to 'The Bunkhouse', which was to be our home for the next four nights. Apart from one brave soul, strict segregation of the sexes meant the 'ladies' in the locked off...

What a great evening the awards dinner 2011 was – so lovely to see the young members of the club get so much appreciation for their efforts. Jake Meakins and Abi Quinn were particularly well rewarded. Even better is the numbers coming thought with higher level and instructor qualifications – that’s a great sign of a thriving club.
Champagne moment for me – a close call between Abi winning Diver of the Year and the girls trip to St Abbs winning best expedition. Whichever I choose it’s still a case of well done the girls x
The Big Scuba Show at Olympia, London was the venue for this year's BSAC Diving Conference, which saw a fantastic turnout. With its new name, new location and more of offer for the delegates, BSAC’s national conference has just got a lot more exciting.
It was a long day, the train left Nottingham at 6.28 I arrived at Olympia at 9.30. It was my first DO's Conference, getting to see and meet the National Diving Committee face to face was very interesting. They are all passionate about what we like to do, which is diving. There were lots of questions and answers with small workshops to discuss how we could improve training within the diving grades. It was good to see BSAC is still driven by it members which makes...
