Localgiving.com

Bingham SAC have now joined the Local Giving website, this means we can promote ourselves as a diving club, but also get potential sponsors that would donate funds to the club. The first project is to raise funds to purchase a full body resuscutation mannequin, this would enable us to deliver in-house resuscitation training to all club members. We hope to raise sufficient funds in time to run courses over the summer when many divers will be completing higher qualifications and will therefore require this element of training. It will help people to progress more evenly through the training layers.

The second project is to raise money for a new engine for out RHIB. The club boat is an essential part of our club and was the result of lots of fundraising work 5 years ago. Unfortunately, the engine was purchased second hand and is now becoming unreliable. In order to maintain our ability to run regular trips for all our members it is vital that our boat remains serviceable and safe. We are therefore aiming to replace the engine over the next 12 months for one which is much newer (or new) and more efficient.

Bingham Sub-Aqua Club 0378

The club started in 1970, and has been frequenting Bingham Leisure Centre on a Tuesday night ever since. The Club was set up for, and is still training people in the art of Scuba Diving. Many of the current members joined to learn so that they could dive on holidays, and just stayed on. Some of the current members learnt to dive in their teens, left the Club and have since rejoined. We currently have in excess of 70 members, most of whom are active divers. The range of experience covers four Nationally Qualified Instructors, six more Dive Leaders on their way to be instructors, Advanced Divers, Dive Leaders, Sports and Ocean Divers, and don't forget the novices - 12 people between starting, and just about ready to be qualified as Ocean Divers. We have an amount of Pool and Open Water kit available to our trainees, plus we have recently taken delivery of a 6.5m Humber Rib, which is for those members who want to do Rib Diving.

Scapa Flow Expedition October 2011

team_scapa_oct_2011

The club went up to Scapa Flow in October again. This time we had two RHIBs to play with and weather conditions varied. The team managed to dive the German fleet with newly qualified sports divers. Great fun and everyone one had a great time. The DO suffered from car lag which effected the first days diving, as all the tides were out by a day. HMS Endevour being one of the best dives of the week, vis was a good 15m. Big thanks to Orkney Dive Club and our President for putting up with us.

Winners of the Awards Night February 2011

What a great evening the awards dinner 2011 was – so lovely to see the young members of the club get so much appreciation for their efforts.  Jake Meakins and Abi Quinn were particularly well rewarded.  Even better is the numbers coming thought with higher level and instructor qualifications – that’s a great sign of a thriving club.

Champagne moment for me – a close call between Abi winning Diver of the Year and the girls trip to St Abbs winning best expedition.  Whichever I choose it’s still a case of well done the girls xx

Scapa Flow Expedition October 2010

The visability was 25m and a team of 6 divers went to Scapa Flow in October 2010 to explore new dive sites.

The team met the Orkney Dive Club and dived outside of the flow. We had rain, force 7 gales, 13 rainbows and flat calm sunny weather. Who says British diving is hard work. As well as diving we ran a BSAC boat handling course with two diver gaining their qualifications.

All women rib trip to St Abbs was a triumph

An all women rib trip went up to St Abbs. The Harbour Master had never seen the specialist Ensigns flying from the A frame before.
